BASIC FACTORS DETERMINING THE MAIN FEATURES OF THE GENERAL CIRCULATION OF THE ATMOSPHERE

This paper consists of three parts. In the first part, the annual variations of the mean westerlies, easterlies and the sub-tropical high of the Northern Hemisphere are studied. The intensity of the westerlies is stronger in the winter halfyear than in the summer half-year, and for the easterlies the reverse is true.
