Abstract: | The remanent magnetization of iron grains in lunar fines can be studied by allowing a sample of fines to acquire a depositional remanent magnetization (NRM) in the Thellier determination of an ancient lunar field intensity. Although a natural remanent magnetization (NRM) in the Thellier determination of an ancient lunar field intensity. Although a palaeointensity of ca. 1.0 Oe was determined by this method, several factors complicate the interpretation of the result. These include the origin and nature of the iron metal in lunar fines, and the time and acquisition process of its magnetization. |
