Early development of the glacial theory: Louis Agassiz and the Scottish connection

Abstract:Britain's landscape reflects the imprint of glaciation and the dramatic fluctuations in climate that have characterized the Quaternary. There was an important Scottish connection in the early development of the glacial theory during the nineteenth century, in particular through the work of Louis Agassiz.
