Soliton generation in clear water and in the presence of surfactants

It is shown that the effect of wind in a circular wind-water tunnel can cause the formation of a single soliton, whose generation is preceded by a gradual increase in the length and amplitude of wind waves. In the presence of surfactants, another (long-wave) formation mechanism comes into play, resulting in the generation of a soliton on the surface free of wind waves in the low-frequency range, which will persist from the origination of waves to a completely formed soliton.
