| Abstract: | In this paper, the mechanism of ground lateral deformation caused by liquefaction is analysed.A new method is presented to evaluate the permanent lateral displacements of ground due to seimically induced liquefaction.This method uses the law of pore pressure in saturated sand to revise the yield strength of sand,and the model of Newmark's rigid block is used to calculate the permanent lateral displacements of ground in every stress cycle. The method presented is more resonable in physical mechanism and the numerical results are coincident with the earthquake damage. |
