Abstract:Sediment transportation is a serious problem in hydraulic engineerings,and the long-term effect of sedimentation results in delta formation and significant environmental change.Sediment dynamics and relevant engineering problems are typical examples of natural cybernetics.A two-dimensional dynamic model is designed to investigate bed deformation and delta evolution.The results of fifty-year simulation for a simple alluvial lake show that a large submerged delta is formed in the vicinity of the incoming flow and gradually extended to the downstream region,the front of the delta is very sharp.One engineering(cybernetic) problem is to find an optimum artificial channel for navigation under the constraint of fixed expenses.The optimum problem should be solved together with the dynamic heel.A method for solving this complicated problem is developed on the basis of adjoint operator.Some other relevant inverse problems are also analyst.
