Abstract: | A new method for distinguishing candidate giant radio galaxies is proposed and applied. The method is based on comparing the axes of the extended components of NVSS radio sources with separations exceeding 4′, described in a catalog of presumably independent objects. Objects detected using the proposed algorithm include 16 new weak giant-radio-galaxy candidates, for which optical and radio identifications have been obtained using the CATS, NED, SDSS, and SkyView databases. |
