Distributions of density and elastic parameters in the Earth

The velocity curve previously obtained for P waves in the Earth is used to determine the distributions of the density and elastic parameters. The density distribution in the new model differs from that in the standard PREM model only in the inner core. The distributions of the bulk and shear moduli can differ, depending on physical processes in the Earth. In particular, the bulk modulus can have a negative jump at the outer-inner core boundary, whereas the shear modulus can differ from zero in the lower part of the outer core.
