Revision platform of geology and mineral resources terminology classification codes （ hereinafter referred to as GB 9649-- 1988 standard） based on B/S mode was a necessity means to improve the revision efficiency of GB 9649--1988 standard, and the intermixed use of data dictionary ensured the rational and security of revision work. The authors discussed the specific applications of data dictionary technology in the functions to achieve the revision authority control and revision version management of revision platform, refleeted the unique advantages of data dictionary technology in data processing. The data dictionary technology in the platform was able to not only restrict the revision authority of revision staff flexibly but also manage a large number of different versions brought about in the revision process effectively.
