Abstract: | The stability of a slab of incompressible fluid with exponentially-increasing density, supported by a semi-infinite homogeneous region and supporting a semi-infinite region of exponentially-decreasing density has been investigated when the whole system rotates uniformly about a vertical axis. The familiar Rayleigh-Taylor stability problems are recovered from the general dispersion relation, both in the presence of rotation and in the absence of rotation. |
