A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON PROGRESS IN STUDY OF BARCHAN DUNE

Barchan dunes are one of the most widedpread dune types in global sand seas,especially in the deserts of the Northern Hemisphere. R. A. Bagnold (1941 ) overall discussed the origin, moving feature, and depositional structure of the barchan. E. D. Mckee (1966 ) completely un covered the depositional structure of the barchan. B. A. Phidolowiqi (1960) and S. G. Fry berger, etc. (1979 ) clarified the wind-regime environment for developing harchan dunes. M.P. Ptrove (1962 ) and Zhu Zhenda, etc. (1981 ) deeply researched the moving laws of the barchan. Recently, mighty advances in study of the barchan development are being made hy the introduction of the model of systematic theory. Some new progresses in study of the barchan is comprehensively reviewed in the paper.
