Abstract:In this paper,a comparison is made of the Doppler sodar wind measurement with the in-situ measurements on a 325 m meteorological tower. The results show that when the ratio of signal to noise is larger than 1,the mean wind speeds and directions obtained from the two techniques are well correlated, thus their profiles are close to each other. The mean value and root mean square of vertical velocity measured by the Doppler sodar are a little larger than those measured by a sonic anemometer at a height of 85 m,which is in agreement with the analysis by Gaynor et al.(1983).We notice that there are some differences in the observational results between the Doppler sodar and insitu measurements, especially when comparing the values measured at each time. Therefore,it is important to analyze the reason for the differences and to make corrections to the Doppler sodar measurements.
