Abstract: | The classical glacial isostatic uplift paradigm of Fennoscandia is in need of a thorough revision as to its course and origin. The total uplift amounts to 830 m (not 300 m). The centre of uplift started to rise 13,000 BP (not 9300 BP). The uplift appears to be composed of two separate mechanisms; one true glacial isostatic rebound, and one linear uplift factor possibly representing a phase boundary adjustment. Calculations and modelling must treat these two factors independently (which has not been the case). |
