Abstract:Taking it for an example the district of purple sand and shale rocks of Penglaizhen Group, Jurassic situated at Penmiao Village, Zhenjin Township, Jianyang City, Sichuan Province, the influences of 3 types of microtopographic features including the top,middle and bottom of hill on the distribution,erosion,thickness,gravel content,wetness and temperature of purple soils,on crop overall arrangement and on the yields of wheat, cotton, sweat potatoes have been discussed. The research results showed that the microtopographic features were indeed the important factors affecting the dynamic of light, heat, water and fertility. The microtopographic features play a major role in the soil formation, distribution, erosion deposit, physicochemical proprieties, agricultural production feature and soil fertility,and thus affecting crop growth and yields. In the process of agricultural production practice the microtopographic features should be utilized and remoulded with local conditions so as to give the reins to the productive pocential of soils.
