The selective replacement of the aluminium silicates by white mica: A comment

Characteristic patterns in the preferential replacement of Al₂SiO₅ polymorphs by white mica have been interpreted by Kwak (1971) as indicating that, for alkali equilibria, the fields in order of decreasing stability are: kyanite + soln < andalusite + soln < sillimanite + soln Alternatively, preferential replacement patterns may be interpreted as reflecting the repetition of certain types of Pressure-Temperature-time paths in various metamorphic episodes.I am grateful to J.
