Theory of magnetic stars

The principal observational facts on the early-type magnetic stars are summarized, and interpreted in terms of the oblique rotator model. In the theoretical discussion of the interaction between a large-scale magnetic field and the star's thermal, gravitational and rotation fields, emphasis is laid on effects that are relevant to both fossil and dynamo theories of the origin of the magnetic field.
