Characteristics of uranium mineralization in sedimentary blanket and basement granites
Abstract:On the basis of data from continuous seismo-acoustic profiling of the sector from Cape Gamova to Cape Olarovskogo, and also published data based on the dredging of the submarine canyons of this and a number of other regions, we conclude that the continental slope of the Sea of Japan in Primor'ye was formed on the Miocene-Pliocene boundary as a result of stepwise downwarpings of the consolidated basement, which consisted of Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks. This led to a flexure-like bending of the overlying Miocene marine sediments. On the inner side, the shelf is also limited by a system of faults, which became active at the beginning of the neotectonic stage. The cover of marine shelf deposits proper consists of Pliocene-Quaternary formations. —Author.
