Possibilities of seismoelectric methods in search for quartz veins

An analysis of the resistivity and seismic data for a quartz vein intruded into metamorphosed sediments reveals that the vein cannot be located uniquely on the basis of either resistivity or elastic wave propagation data. The piezoelectric field generated by pressure waves which are propagated through the quartz, however, gives a sharp voltage maximum which permits a unique location of the vein.—M. E. Burgunker.
