Mechanism of origin of radiometric anomalies over oil deposits

Intensities and anomalies of radiometric (gamma) natural fields are related to structures in geologic sections. Positive and negative anomalies in the overburden of petroliferous as well as of "sterile" structures are essentially functions of lithologic and/or mineral composition of the rocks which, in turn, depend on tectonic structure of the area. These and still other complexities, suited as they may be for interpreting radiometric expressions of various structures, are still in need of further research. -- AGI Staff.
