Abstract: | The most complete characterization of Dictyochophyceae (silicoflagellate) assemblages from sediments of the Kronotskii Bay,
Eastern Kamchatka, which are typical of the Corbisema hexacantha (Middle Eocene) and Naviculopsis foliacea (terminal middle-initial
Late Eocene) zones in the tropical/subtropical zonation by Bukry (1981), is considered for the first time. In total, 43 silicoflagellate
species of 8 genera are identified. The prevalence of species of the genera Corbisema and Dictyocha in the assemblages suggest warm, close to subtropical conditions in a sea basin that existed in the Eastern Kamchatka region
during the Middle-Late Eocene. |
