Abstract: | Summary The fault plane solution for the Alaska earthquake of October 24, 1927, is obtained and is found to be similar to that of the more recent earthquake of July 10, 1958, which occurred in the same general region. Using the data from the plane of polarization of theS waves, the mechanism at the focus is seen to conform to a single couple or faulting model rather than to a double couple. TheS waves, further, select one of the nodal planes forP as the fault plane. |
