Abstract: | The influence of the Fe and Ti species of ilmenite on its response to flotation is studied.Because the Fe2+ ions on the surface of ilmenite can be dissolved and oxidized in solution, they are the active factor. When using SPA as the collector, the dissolution of Fe2+ ions makes the unsaturated strength of the electro-static valence of Ti species greater. As a result, the flotability of ilmenite also increases greatly. The electro-chemical oxidation of Fe2+ into Fe3+ ions also increases its flotability to a certain extent, but this is not decisive.A method is described for determining by Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES) the interaction of collector with various species on the mineral's surface. It is shown by this means, that ions of SPA act mainly on Ti species on the surface of ilmenite. |
