Abstract:Summary Mean values of the angle of inclination between the mean vector surface wind and the mean isobars have been calculated as a function of latitude for a number of independent Marsden squares over the ocean. Mean values of the ratio between the mean vector surface wind velocity and the calculated geostrophic wind velocity have been computed in the same way. Some general inferences about the general circulation have been drawn from the results.
