| Abstract: | A linear approximating equation exists for the boundary of a uniformly rotating polytrope. The equation in η=(ξ1−ξ)/ξ1 permits rapid calculation of the polytrope radius for any latitude, and is accurate for angular velocities of rotation nearly
to critical rotation. Data in this paper apply to a polytrope indexn=3.0. |
