Abstract:
A procedure is proposed for the design of vertically embedded plate/fluke anchors subjected to uplift loading. Anchor capacities and displacements are determined having due regard to the useful life of the system and the safety factors employed can be evaluated, if thought appropriate, by means of a probabilistic technique. Finally, the applicability of the method is demonstrated by a number of worked examples.
