Abstract:n this paper the quantity relation between the damping energy-dissipation and the plastic one of multistory buildings is studied by using the computational method.The structure is subjected to seismic loading and in elastic-plastic response.The results show that,no matter when the structure is in weak nonlinear response or in strong nonlinear response,the damping energy-dissipation is always greater than the plastic one,which means that,the damping is of the important influence on the elasto-plastic earthquake response of strtictures.
