Abstract: | Reaches with very thick deposits alternate with deeply incised reaches in the DaDu river valley. The river sediments are described and a number of 14C dates are given. The deposits are alluvium, Pleistocene slope-wash deposits, marginal moraines and beds of fluvio-lacustrine origin. The valley development is explained as the result of neotectonic movement and glacial aggradation. From the point of view of water-power development, three different types of valley can be distinguished, each with its own consequences for hydraulic engineering works. |
