On the Spatial Characteristics of US' Missile Defense and Its Impact on China's Security

The USA administration has strongly pushed forward Missile Defense （MD） Program since President George W. Bush came into the White House in 2001, and actually began to construct National Missile Defense （NMD） in related regions around the world in 2004. The core goal of MD is to protect the homeland of the USA and its critical interests overseas from threats of missiles from big powers in Euro-Asia continent who have the capabilities to throw out long-range missiles. The spatial patterns of construction for MD appear that Russia and China are the main competitors of US＇ Missile Defense. The Missile Defense that has been put in practice harms balance badly between the major big powers and significantly threatens China＇s national security.
