摘    要:Middle and Upper Permian reefs are widely distributed and well developed in south China. Sponges (sphinctozoans,inozoans ; and sclerosponges)are one of the most important frame一building organisms.Algae have played an exceedingly important role in the development of the reefs. Abundant records of Permian reef communities exist in South China. Most reefs clearly exhibit distinct cycles,which are consistent with the reef community flourishing. Results of the author research in individual paleoecology and community paleoecology furnished fresh evidences for further study on the development of Permian reefs of south China.
