Abstract: | Summary The coordinates and the components of the dipole approximating to the highest possible degree the earth's magnetic field are determined minimizing a sum of squares of differences between the dipole field and the earth's magnetic field. Numerical results by the aid of a digital computer have been obtained for epoch 1932, 1937, 1942, 1945, 1950, 1955 and 1960 on the basis of magnetic data from 61 observatories. |
