Topic 4: Impact of protective drainage works and irrigation on groundwater

By the twenty-first century, the world population will be 9 billion, double its present total. This raises significant questions regarding the ability to feed, clothe, and shelter this population and at what cost to the earth, especially to groundwater quality. Various studies continue on the effects of drainage works and irrigation on groundwater, some of the results of which are reported in this Symposium.
