Magnetic forces in an oriented matrix of the high-gradient magnetic separator

A new expression has been derived for calculation of the magnetic force acting in the space of an oriented matrix of the high-gradient magnetic separator. The matrix geometry and the interaction of the individual matrix elements is taken into consideration. The new method for making visible the elevation of the paramagnetic fluid in the neighbourhood of the matrix rod element, which depends on the magnetic field intensity, allows of verifying theoretical calculations of the magnetic force and determining the direction of its highest effect.
