Abstract:The isotope study was carried out in the Edremit plain which is situated at the Aegean seacoast of Turkey.On interpretation,the distributions of environmental isotopes such as oxygen- 18,deuterium and tritium and hydrochemical species revealed the interrelations of variouswater types in the aquifer systems.This article summarizes environmental isotope data on precipitation, groundwaters,thermalwaters and streams throughout the investigated area and contribution of the streams and thermal waters into the aquifer systems(and vice versa) have been discussed using a combined interpretation of the results of isotopes and hydrochemical analyses.The results indicate the existence of various regional aquifers in the study region which have exhibited different rechargemechanism.
