论珠江三角洲与外围地区的互补性

ON THE COMPLEMENTARITY BETWEEN THE PEARL RIVER DELTA AND SURROUNDING REGIONS

Complementary is an important common development basis to the Pearl River Delta (PRD) and surrounding regions (northern, eastern and western regions of Guangdong Province). The PRD has advantages in social economic resources and disadvantages in natural resources, while the surrounding regions have advantages in natural resources and disadvantages in social economic resources, so they have good complementary in resources. The surrounding regions have provided abundant agricultural products for the industrialization of the PRD since the 1980s. The light manufacture industry in the PRD is strongly complementary to the heavy manufacturing industry in the surrounding regions. In tertiary industry, the PRD has provided financial services for the surroundings regions. In tourism industry, they have their own tourism resources with different characteristics, which are supplementary to each other in tourism market. As for commodity supply and demand, the industrial products of the PRD and the agricultural products and materials of the surrounding regions are also complementary. It is suggested that exchanges and cooperation between the PRD and the surrounding regions should be strengthened and a way of common development should be taken.
