| Abstract: | The observed albedo distributions in asteroid families as well as numberical calculations suggest that the spatial separation of bright and dark asteroids can be caused by some nongravitational mechanism acting in the solar system. For main-belt asteroids of size 10–50 km, the separation rate can be roughly estimated at 1 AU per 108 yr. The physical mechanism of this effect requires further investigation. |
