Abstract: | A numerical technique based on the least-square error method for evaluating fluxes and other surface-layer parameters is proposed. The special feature of this method is that it does not require a prior knowledge of the temperature profile. It can, in fact, be used to predict the temperature profile. The only other input parameter is the value of the roughness length z
0 which has to be specified beforehand. This method has been tested on both the Kansas and the Wangara experimental data. Good agreement on fluxes and the Monin-Obukhov length compared with those obtained from direct measurements is obtained. |
