Identification of the initial oceanographic field by means of the variation algorithm of measurement data assimilation

The variation algorithm of data assimilation is considered which is based on the minimization of some quadratic functional of the prediction quality and the solution of a conjugated problem. Numerical experiments of the model have been carried out which demonstrate the potentialities of this approach and the prospects of its employment for solving practical problems.Translated by Mikhail M.
