New approach to studying electromagnetic mode coupling in inhomogeneous magnetized plasma

Considering mode coupling as a consequence of the matching of boundary conditions at an infinitesimal discontinuity, a concept introduced by the same authors earlier, we derive explicit expressions for the coupling coefficients for electromagnetic waves propagating in a rather general direction in an inhomogeneous magnetized plasma. Some special cases of the theory are discussed.
