ON FOLD AGES OF PLATFORM COVER AND OVERLYING BASIN STRATA OF SOUTH CHINA

The fold ages of the platform cover from the Late Paleozoic to Middle Triassic and the overlying Meso-Cenozoic basin strata are discussed based on the relation between them, their fold forms and geological data around the Early-Middle Triassic Youjiang split depressed basin. The conclusion is reached that the fold forms of the platform cover and the overlying basin strata are formed by many times of Meso-Cenozoic gentle orogenies since the Late Jurassic or the Late Eocene. Because there are no Indosinides in the Lanping-Simao Meso-Cenozoic spreading basin . there are possibly no Tndos inides as said by Fromaget (1934) in the allied part of North Viet-Nam, which is tectonically extended to the Lanping -Simao Meso-Cenozoic spreading basin.
