Abstract: | Probabilistic slope stability analyses incorporate more information regarding the input variables than do traditional deterministic analyses. Consequently, more information is contained in the results. A probabilistic method for slope stability analysis for very general problems was presented by Wolff and Harr.1 The method allows analysis of a broad range of slope stability problems. In this Application Brief, the method is reviewed and used to illustrate the significant change in reliability of a dam slope from the time of an actual slide to the time the slide was repaired by the construction of a rock toe berm. |
