老挝人民民主共和国地质矿产概况

老挝地质矿产调查程度很低,目前对地质构造特征和矿产资源情况只了解其大概.其境内总体上为古生代和中生代褶皱,仅在西北部可见少量前寒武纪变质基底.现已发现了铁、金、铜、铅、锌、锡、钼、锑、钾盐、石膏、煤、高岭土、宝石等20余种矿产,其中经过系统地质勘查的矿床(点)很少,投入工业开发的更少,具有很大的资源开发潜力.

THE OUTLINE OF GEOLOGY AND MINERALRESOURCES OF THE LAOS

The geology and mineral resources of Laos have been poorly studied and roughly known. The Precambrian high grade metamorphic rocks are found in certain areas in the northwest, northeast and southeast. Most areas are dominated to Paleozoic and Mesozoic folded belts. There are more than 20 types of mineral resources, such as Fe, Sn, Cu, Pb, Zn, Au, Mo, Sb and rock salt, potash, gypsum, garnet, limestone etc. The Mesozoic magmatic and hydrothermal activities seem to be the cause of the metallic minerlization. Such deposits are found in veins, diseminations, stockworks or replacement bodies in proximity with granitic and granodioritic intrusions. Stratiform or strata bound deposits are found in the Upper Paleozoic and Mesozoic strata. The Cretaceous was a time of deposition of thick evaporites, rock salt with subsidiary gypsum and potash minerals. There is coal in Upper Carboniferous and Permian, lignite in Triassic, and garnet in Quaternary basalt.
