Wuqiuyu Islet is not the proper site for nuclear waste disposal

Taiwan Power Company intends to make the Wuqiuyu Islet near Putian of Fujian province a site for low-level nuclear waste disposal from Taiwan province. On the basis of in troducing three modes of nuclear waste disposal and discussing the geologic structure and en vironmental features of the Wuqiuyu Islet, this paper considers the Wuqiuyu Islet not to be the proper site for nuclear waste disposal. The paper also explores the possibilities of cooper ation between both sides of the Taiwan Strait for the solution of Taiwan nuclear waste disp osal.
