Three Dimensional Computed Tomographic Reformations of Complex Maxillofacial Trauma

In this study, three dimensional computed tomographic(3D CT)images were reconstructed from conventional CT scans using 3D98 software in 22 patients with facial trauma. The advantage of the 3D CT imaging technique in the diagnosis for facial trauma was discussed. Although fracture detection was superior by 2D CT, 3D images were considered superior to conventioal CT sections for the assessment of the shape, extent of fracture lines, fragment displacement and the resulting disruption of facial symmetry. It is an important supplement to 2D CT.
