| Abstract: | The James M. Harrison Award for Outstanding Achievement was established by the IUGS Executive Committee in 2004 to honor individuals who have served the Union in an extraordinary fashion for a long period of time, and who have no recognized position as an officer of the Union. The award is named for the late James M. Harrison, an internationally known and universally respected Canadian geologist (Geological Survey of Canada) who was one of the founding fathers of the IUGS and its first President (1961-1964). |
