Abstract:Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology has been carrying out research programme of deep underground disposal for high-level radioactive wastes sponsored by the China National Nuclear Corporation(CNNC) since 1985. Analogue studies have been focused on buffer materials. Bentonite is chosen as an object of study. Evaluation of uranium ore body as analogy of radioactive waste repository was commenced last year under support of CNNC and IAEA.
