A TECHNIQUE FOR SETTING OUT

Abstract

The work of a Surveyor, Engineer or Cadastral, often involves the demarcation on the ground of a complex layout from the design plan. A usual method is to establish on the ground a system of co-ordinated points of a good standard of accuracy, related to the design plan. The location of this system to give good command of the area with a minimum of disturbance in later stages of development calls for forethought. Co-ordinates of the points to be set out are computed from information obtained from the plan. Bearings and distances from selected control points, already established, are computed, and the points set out by oblique radiation. Sufficient checks will be applied at all stages to ensure correctness. The purpose of this paper is to discuss a method of making the oblique radiations.
