An improved technique for preparing polished thin sections of stony-iron meteorites

Abstract— Polished thin sections of stony-iron meteorites can be prepared easily and quickly using a new technique in which the cooling water to the polishing machine is refrigerated. When using this technique, the silicate and sulfide phases do not heat up and expand differentially, as is often the case when normal procedures are used, and do not pluck out during the polishing process.
