香港海区双壳类帘蛤科一新种

帘蛤科一新种——扁平美女蛤Circe(Laevicirce)hongkongensis sp.nov.系于1988年采自香港大潭湾潮下带。新种的主要特征是两壳极扁平,铰合部宽阔,区别于本亚属的其他种。

A new species of Venefidae (Bivalvia) from Hong Kong Waters

The Veneridae is a large family in the class bivalves. The new species, Circe(Laevicirce)hongkongensis sp. nov., described here was collected by Dr. Rosita Ong Che of the Swire Marine Laboratory, University of Hong Kong, from the subtidal zone of Tai Tam Bay in Hong Kong Waters, 5 species of the genus have been recorded in China Seas so far.Circe(Laevicirce)hougkongensis sp. nov.(Fig.1)Shell small,solid, rather thick, very compressed; umbo pointed, inclined forward, situated at about middle of dorsal margin; anterodorsal margin nearly straight,postero-dorsal margin convex;anterior margin narrowly rounded and postero-margin slightly truncated; without lunule and escutcheon; ligment deeply sunken behind the umbo; shell white, on the umbonal area covered with brown de- posit; surface with growth lines, sparely concentric ribs and a few knobs on postero-dorsal area. Hinge plate very broad, right posterior cardinal tooth and left median cardinal tooth with a shallow groove; anterior upper and lower lateral teeth of right valve separated by socket and left posterior lateral tooth weak; poster-dorsal margin area of right valve with a shallow groove, left valve with a low ridge; pallial sinus indistinct; inner ventral margin smooth, without erenulate.Measurement: length 6.88, height 6.00, breadth 1.06mmHolotype locality: Hong KongHolotype(TB8801) is deposited in the Third Institute of Oceanography, SOA.The new species is distinguished from Laevicire soyoae Habe of subgenus by having compressed valves and very broad hinge plate.
