EFFECTS OF WATERSHED RECLAMATION ON INFLOW AND SEDIMENT LOAD IN THE FENHE RESERVOIR

The paper analyzes the effects of the watershed reclamation in the upper Fenhe River on the water and sediment load into the Fenhe Reservoir in the past ten years. Two approaches were adopted namely Hydrological method and Sediment trap method. The results show that the watershed reclamation (WR) reduced 10 14% of runoff and 45 50% of sediment load to the river. It is concluded that the reduction of runoff/sediment load ratio depends on the level of soil and water loss control and also on the arrangement of control works.
