| Abstract: | This paper briefly describes the deposition processes and formation of calcareous soils to provide basis for understanding their behavior. Emphasis is placed on the presentation of nature and mechanical properties of the soils for engineering purposes. Then response of piles in calcareous soils is discussed, and geotechnical investigation and parameter selection methods that have proposed for offshore pile design in the soils are presented. |
